Information about the different oils

Moisturizing oils:

These oils can easily penetrate 'into' your hair and nourish the hair.

  • Coconut oil (not suitable if you are protein sensitive )
  • Sunflower oil
  • Palm kernel oil
  • Babassu oil

Sealing and slightly moisturizing:

  • Olive oil
  • Avocado oil
  • Argan oil

Sealing oils:

These oils remain 'on' the hair and ensure that your hair stays hydrated for longer, because the moisture leaves your hair more slowly.

  • (Jamaican black) castor oil (not suitable if you are protein sensitive )
  • Grapeseed oil
  • Jojoba oil (light oil, suitable for fine / thin / low porosity hair)
  • Rice bran oil
  • Almond oil

Argan oil

Argan oil comes from argan nuts and is also called “Moroccan Gold”.

Argan oil for curls contains many antioxidants, vitamin E and Omega fatty acids. It is a natural product, so it does not contain parabens or other harmful additives.

The Vitamin E provides a protective layer for your hair, which protects your hair against harmful external influences, such as:

  • The wind
  • The sun
  • And dirt from the air.

It also protects your hair against the heat of, for example, blow-drying.

Almond oil

Almond oil is said to reduce skin irritations, so if you suffer from an itchy and dry scalp, almond oil can provide relief. It stimulates blood circulation in your (scalp) skin and contains magnesium. A lack of magnesium plays a major role in hair loss.

If you regularly dye your hair or often use a hair dryer or straightener, you can quickly suffer from porous hair. In that case, sweet almond oil ensures that your hair cuticles are less open. This means you will have less trouble with frizzy hair and your hair will have more shine.

Olive oil

A useful remedy that almost everyone has at home is olive oil.

Olive oil provides good nutrients to your hair. It naturally contains good vitamins that ensure that your hair becomes stronger and that you are less likely to get split ends.

Because olive oil is a fairly heavy oil, this is especially suitable if you have a thick head of curls.

If you have thinner hair, it is better to mix the olive oil with conditioner, or just use a very small amount.

Jojoba oil

Jojoba oil stays more on the surface of your hair and does not penetrate all the way to the core.

Actually, it works the same as a conditioner does. Because the jojoba oil seals the hair follicles, the moisture in your hair is better preserved.

So you can use jojoba oil if you have very dry hair. It will make your curls shine beautifully! Jojoba oil is a light oil and therefore suitable for all hair types.

Avocado Oil

This oil is very suitable for dry and dyed hair. This is one of the types of oil that you can use when applying the LOC method.

The advantage of avocado oil is that it is less thick than castor oil and is less greasy than olive oil. By the way, it is an oil that is best used as a sealer.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil penetrates all the way to the core of the hair. This allows coconut oil to deeply nourish your hair. Coconut oil gives your hair new proteins and is good for your hair if you have too few natural oils in your hair. This may be because you damage your hair too often or wash it with a strong shampoo. It softens your scalp, hydrates your scalp and this stimulates hair growth. It strengthens the hair, makes the hair shine and makes the hair flexible.

Coconut oil is not very heavy, so it can also be used for thin and fine hair. It also prevents dandruff if you apply the oil warmly.

Castor Oil

Besides Shea Butter, Castor Oil is probably the most used product in the natural hair community. The hair has sometimes had to endure a lot and castor oil helps them get their original hair back. Castor oil consists of more than 90% Ricinoleic acid (an omega 9 fatty acid) and contains omega 6 fatty acids and vitamin E. A special composition for two reasons: it keeps the scalp clean and balanced and helps keep the hair more supple, making it less easily breaks or damaged. This not only supports natural hair growth, your hair also retains its shine and volume for longer. Very important for those who want long and full hair.
