Frequently Asked Questions
When do you use the Final Wash?
You use this when you start with the CG method. After that, not again unless you have not received CG products in your hair by, for example, the hairdresser, and if you have dyed your hair, then you wash it after a few days with the final wash, followed by a mask. And if you feel like you have a lot of build-up, the products no longer work well on your curls. You can also use a Clarifying shampoo for this.
I have itching and sensitive scalp now that I have started the CG Method, what can I do about it?
Your scalp may have to get used to the products. You can watch it for a while or temporarily use products that will help your scalp relax. We have a special range that is suitable for a sensitive scalp.
My hair gets greasy quickly, what can I do about this?
Depending on which products you use, a curl cream, for example, may cause this. Stop this for a moment and see if it gets better. In addition, it may also be that you are using too heavy products or too much product.
Coconut in your products can also cause greasy hair. Even if you wash too little with a CG shampoo, you can get greasy hair. Instead of a regular conditioner, use a co-wash conditioner if you wash your hair without shampoo. Otherwise, you can use shampoo and conditioner.
My styling products no longer work as well as before.
This could be because your hair properties may have changed. Check it out and you may need to switch to products with or without protein.
This may also be because your hair is too polluted. It is advisable to wash your hair with a final wash or a Clarifying shampoo. This really gets everything out of your hair so that you can start fresh again.
Can I really not use shampoo?
We understand that you think that when you see the washing schedule. But that's really allowed. A CG shampoo of course. The washing schedule is when you start to keep it simple. But the CG method is also one big test journey, so of course you can clean your hair with shampoo and then follow with a conditioner. Don't wash your hair too often.
Do I really need to use a mask every week?
The advice is, this really gives your curls a boost. Of course you can also test with this again if, for example, you do it not weekly but every 2 weeks/month. For low elasticity we recommend using a mask once a week. This hair is more fragile and porous and really needs this deep nourishment. You can also use a shower cap to allow the product to penetrate deep into the core of your curls, especially suitable for low porosity hair.
I have fine/wavy hair and my curls disappear as the day goes on.
Try leaving your leave-in on. You often hear that leave-in can weigh down the curls of fine hair.
If you use mousse, try to avoid it temporarily. And check whether you are not using too heavy products or too much product. Diffusing your curls when your hair is still quite wet will also help.
And especially use gel, this provides hold and more definition to your curls. You can also add a little more protein to your styling products, or work with protein drops.
Is it better to have all products from the same brand?
No, that is not necessary. Your curls can sometimes respond better to a product from another brand, for example a gel from brand X works better for you than brand Y. Again, test, test, test. And we also have travel size products . You don't have to buy whole pots right away.
I have (partially) bleached my hair. Now I don't want yellow hair, do you have something for that?
Bleached curls can become somewhat yellower due to the influence of daylight. You can use CG friendly silver products for this, which you can shop here.
I can't figure out which products I should purchase, can you help me?
We are also available for personal advice. You can email us or contact us by telephone. No effort is too much for us. We want you to be happy with your curls again with the right products.
Naturally, we are happy to provide advice about our products. Unfortunately, we cannot answer questions about products from other web shops, you will of course understand this.
What is refreshing?
Refreshing means that you wet/or dampen your hair between washes (with or without a little leave-in added to the water) when you get out of bed. You do this with a plant sprayer or a Spray Bottle. Make it as wet or damp as your curls like. Add a small amount of product (gel/mousse or cream) and let it air dry or diffuse.
Of course, it is also possible that you get out of bed with a beautiful head of curls and this is not necessary. but most of them still have some curls that don't fit well. Therefore, mist with a little damp water and add product.
I still have a lot of lint, what can I do about it?
We have written an article about this, in which you will find information about how fluff occurs and how you can reduce it.
When is the best time to comb my curls to remove all tangles?
It is best to do this if you have a mask or conditioner in your hair. Use some kind of brush with wide teeth or a wide-toothed comb. This will damage your hair the least.
You can comb your hair with a Denman Brush before styling to get more curl definition. Make sure you comb away from your scalp so you don't pull out the curls. More information about the Denman Brush can be found here.
I suddenly have a lot of tangles and my hair feels like straw, what happened?
You may have a protein overload. Lots of tangles quickly, your hair feels like straw, no shine, your hair does not get wet easily when you take a shower and it takes a very long time to dry.
You can solve this by washing your hair with a CG shampoo, followed by an Apple Vinegar. Add a few tablespoons to a glass of water, spread this over your scalp and hair, rinse. Then treat with a mask and let it work for 5 to 10 minutes. Do not use protein in your products for a few weeks. Repeat this once a week.
Do I need to apply curly cream before the gel?
No, if you want soft bouncy curls you can apply the cream after the gel. If you go for a hard cast, apply the cream before the gel.
